He studied at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, graduating in 1982. He completed additional studies at the St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music in Russia, graduating in 1996, and in 2005, completed a degree in conducting from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Ukraine. His compositions include works for orchestra, string ensemble, wind ensemble, and instrumental solos. 'Playing at the
