Description

The species in in decline in its native range due to a variety of threatening processes

Quite a hardy tree that so far has handled -10C for me without a problem

nearly extinct in the wild and unsurprisingly it is listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN

A native to the southeastern United States

The tree also extrudes a natural latex that was once used as a substitute for the traditional rubber tree

Firmiana simplex - Chinese Parasol Tree Oak The species in in declineThis medium sized deciduous tree in the mallow family native to Asia. It is noted for its large lobed leaves which can grow up to 30cm across enabling it to cast dense shade. In early summer long panicles of yellow green flowers occur followed by unusual seed pods. This tree will grow in a variety of soils if they are well drained in sun to partial shade. Rarely seen in Australian gardens.
