somehow I managed to crawl down without rolling to a sense of relief mixed with the painstaking awareness that I’d made a grave mistake

and i only had a very short window in the freezing cold water at the bottom of Australia in the middle of winter to make it happen

Though I was in a distant foreign land

captivating ocean energy and creative prowess

Without doing this, waves are so full throttle that you'd miss the beauty in it every time.
